Unakite

Unakite is a stone with red and green tones that give it this unique character. Its appearance gives it an image of nature that evokes a return to basics. This stone is commonly used in lithotherapy.

Origin

The Unakite stone owes its name to the place where it was discovered. The Unaka Mountains located in the Southeastern United States let this mineral emerge from the ground. Since its discovery by Mr. Bradley in 1874, this stone has been discovered in other parts of the world.

Composition

Unakite belongs to the family of altered granites. The epidote gives it its green color while the orthoclase gives it its red tint. It consists of calcium silicate, aluminum and iron. Its hardness varies between 6.5 and 7 Mohs.

Virtues

The virtues of this stone are numerous. This stone brings well-being, regulation of emotions and improvement of psychic abilities.

It promotes anchoring and acts as an antidepressant.
